DESIGNATION OF VOTING DELEGATE AND ALTERNATES
FOR THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES ANNUAL
CONFERENCE
City Manager's Office
RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council designate Councilmember McLean as the voting delegate and Mayor Pro Tem
Weste and Councilmember Kellar as the alternates for the 2009 League of California Cities
Annual Conference.
BACKGROUND
The League of California Cities 2009 Annual Conference will be held September 16-18, 2009,
in San Jose. An important part of this conference is the Annual Business Meeting, which is
scheduled for the afternoon of September 18, 2009.
In order to vote at the Annual Business Meeting, the City Council must designate a voting
delegate. In the event that the designated voting delegate is unable to serve in that capacity, the
City Council may appoint up to two alternate voting delegates. Consistent with the City Council
Committee Appointments 2009, adopted by the City Council earlier this year, Councilmember
McLean would serve as the voting delegate for the Annual Business Meeting. Mayor Pro Tem
Weste and Councilmember Kellar would be appointed to serve as alternate voting delegates.
Per the League of California Cities bylaws, a City's voting delegate and up to two alternates must
be designated by the City Council. Designating the voting delegate and alternates must be done
by the City Council, and the City Council action reflecting the Council's designations must be
provided to the League by August 21, 2009.
ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
Other action as determined by the City Council,
FISCAL IMPACT
None by this action.
