HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009-06-23 - AGENDA REPORTS - LCC ANNUAL CONF DELEGATE (2)CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: SUBJECT: DEPARTMENT: Agenda Item: 7 CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AGENDA REPORT City Manager Approval: Item to be presented by: June 23, 2009 Michael Murphy DESIGNATION OF VOTING DELEGATE AND ALTERNATES FOR THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES ANNUAL CONFERENCE City Manager's Office RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council designate Councilmember McLean as the voting delegate and Mayor Pro Tem Weste and Councilmember Kellar as the alternates for the 2009 League of California Cities Annual Conference. BACKGROUND The League of California Cities 2009 Annual Conference will be held September 16-18, 2009, in San Jose. An important part of this conference is the Annual Business Meeting, which is scheduled for the afternoon of September 18, 2009. In order to vote at the Annual Business Meeting, the City Council must designate a voting delegate. In the event that the designated voting delegate is unable to serve in that capacity, the City Council may appoint up to two alternate voting delegates. Consistent with the City Council Committee Appointments 2009, adopted by the City Council earlier this year, Councilmember McLean would serve as the voting delegate for the Annual Business Meeting. Mayor Pro Tem Weste and Councilmember Kellar would be appointed to serve as alternate voting delegates. Per the League of California Cities bylaws, a City's voting delegate and up to two alternates must be designated by the City Council. Designating the voting delegate and alternates must be done by the City Council, and the City Council action reflecting the Council's designations must be provided to the League by August 21, 2009.
