NEWHALL RANCH ROAD AND MCBEAN PARKWAY POLE
RELOCATION, PROJECT C 1001- PROJECT ACCEPTANCE

RECOMMENDED ACTION
1. City Council accept the completion of the Newhall Ranch Road and McBean Parkway Pole
Relocation, Project C1001.
2. Direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion.
3. Direct staff to release the 10 percent retention balance 35 days after the Notice of Completion
is recorded, provided no'stop notices have been filed, as provided by law.
BACKGROUND
On February 24, 2009, the City Council awarded a contract to construct the Newhall Ranch Road
and McBean Parkway Pole Relocation project to Christopher R. Morales, Inc. Construction
began on March 24, 2009. The project consisted of the removal of an existing traffic signal pole
at the southeast corner of Newhall Ranch Road and McBean Parkway and installation of a City
furnished Traffic Signal Type 61 Pole at a new location. The goal of the project was to enhance
traffic safety at the intersection. The work under this project also included restriping a dual
right -turn lane to single right -turn lane, signal modification and removal, signage, and
replacement of the interfering portions of the existing stamped concrete island where the new
pole was installed.
This project is federally funded under the Highway Safety Improvement Program.
The construction contract was completed within budget to the satisfaction of the City Engineer
on April 20, 2009.

FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact created by the approval of the recommended action. Adequate federal
grant and streetlight maintenance district funds are currently available in the project's budget.
These funds have been approved and budgeted in Accounts C1001259-5161.001 and
C1001354-5161.001.

NOTICE OF COMPLETION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN:
The City of Santa Clarita, a municipal corporation, is the owner in fee, except for the right-of-way
upon which it has been constructed, of a certain public improvement known as Newhall Ranch Road
and McBean Parkway Pole Relocation, Project No. CI 001.
2. The City's address is 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita, California 91355-2196.
3. The general location of said public improvements is Newhall Ranch Road and McBean Parkway.
4. On February 24, 2009, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded to Christopher R.
Morales, Inc., 155 N. Eucla Avenue, San Dimas, California 91773-2587.
Work under said contract was completed on April 20, 2009, to the satisfaction of the City Engineer,
and was accepted by the City on May 12, 2009.
