SUBJECT: SANTA CLARITA SPORTS COMPLEX PHASE IV, SKATE
PARK AND SITE IMPROVEMENTS - PROJECT P3010 —
APPROVE ADDITIONAL INSPECTION SERVICES
DEPARTMENT: Parks, Recreation, and Community Services
RECOMMENDED ACTION
1. Council approve change orders to contracts with R. T. Frankian & Associates, Inc. in the
amount of $49,000 for additional geological testing services, and $25,000 to DMR Team for
inspection services at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex Phase IV, Project P3010.
2. Authorize the City Manager, or designee, to execute all documents, subject to City Attorney
approval.
BACKGROUND
R. T. Frankian and DMR Team are the City's geological and inspection consultants for the
construction of the Santa Clarita Sports Complex Phase IV. City Council authorized the award
of the R. T. Frankian and DMR Team contracts at the June 24, 2008, Council meeting. The
project is nearly complete.
Staff is requesting approval for change order costs to these contracts due to additional testing
required for additive alternates and construction days added to the project. The project is
currently within the approved budget. The additional costs include a 400 -square -foot aquatics
storage building, additional concrete terrace seating around the 50 -meter pool with shade
canopies, and soils testing required for unforeseen grading work.

FISCAL IMPACT
Funds to cover the testing and inspection service costs of the Santa Clarita Sports Complex Phase
IV site improvements are available in project funds previously approved, Account
P3010723-5161.001. Funds are available in project budget retention.
