SEWER IMPROVEMENTS, PROJECT F3012 - PROJECT
ACCEPTANCE

RECOMMENDED ACTION
1. City Council accept the completion of the Via Princessa Metrolink Station Restrooms and
Sewer Improvements, Project F3012.
2. Appropriate a one-time amount of $7,280 for Fiscal Year 2008-09 from Transit Fund Balance
(Fund 700) into Transit Facilities Contractual Services Account 14509-5161.001 and an
ongoing amount of $10,920 from same account. Increase Contract 04-00288-D for Lee's
Maintenance from $256,880 to $267,800 to provide funding for janitorial services for the
new restroom facility.
3. Direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion.
4. Direct staff to release the 10 percent retention balance 35 days after the Notice of Completion
is recorded, provided no stop notices have been filed, as provided by law.
BACKGROUND
On February 12, 2008, the City Council awarded a contract to construct the Via Princessa
Metrolink Station Restrooms and Sewer Improvements to C.J. Tech Construction in the amount
of $719,000. Construction began on March 24, 2008.
This project provided a restroom facility including a men's restroom with two toilets, urinals, and
sinks; and a women's restroom with four toilets and two sinks. In addition to the restroom
facility, a public sewer system was constructed. A guard office was also incorporated into this
project.

Construction was completed within budget to the satisfaction of the City Engineer on January 30,
2009.
ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
Other action as determined by the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT
Proposition A Local Return Funds, appropriated during the Fiscal Year 2007-2008 budget
process and at the award of the construction contract on February 12, 2008, adequately provided
for the Via Princessa Metrolink Station Restrooms and Sewer Improvements. The $7,280
one-time amount and $10,920 ongoing amount to pay for janitorial services is to be appropriated
from Transit Fund Balance (Fund 700) to Transit Facilities Contractual Services Account
14509-5161.001.

NOTICE OF COMPLETION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN:
The City of Santa Clarita, a municipal corporation, is the owner in fee, except for the right-of-way
upon which it has been constructed, of a certain public improvement known as the Via Princess
Metrolink Station Restrooms and Sewer Improvements.
2. 'The City's address is 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita, California 91355-2196.
The general location of said public improvements is 19201 Via Princessa in the Canyon Country area
of the City of Santa Clarita.
4. On February 12, 2008, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded to C.J. Tech
Construction, 3850 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, California 90010.
5. Work under said contract was completed on January 30, 2009 to the satisfaction of the City Engineer,
and was accepted by the City on March 24, 2009.
