SUBJECT: BRIDGE REHABILITATION PROGRAM, PROJECT M0074,
FEDERAL -AID PROJECT ESPL-5450(051), AMERICAN
RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT - PROJECT
ACCEPTANCE
DEPARTMENT: Public Works
RECOMMENDED ACTION
1. City Council accept the completion of the Bridge Rehabilitation Program, Project M0074,
Federal -Aid Project ESPL-5450 (051), American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
2. Direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion.
3. Direct staff to release the remaining retention 35 days after the Notice of Completion is
recorded, provided no stop notices have been filed, as provided by law.
BACKGROUND
The Bridge Rehabilitation Program was funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment
Act of 2009. This project completed preventative maintenance and repair to various bridges in
the City including sealing the bridge decks, patch spalling, and the replacement of expansion
joints, sealants, end treatments, and guardrail posts.
On October 13, 2009, the City Council awarded the construction contract to Peterson/Chase
General Engineering Construction, Inc. Construction commenced on December 9, 2009. This
project was completed within budget to the satisfaction of the City Engineer on March 11, 2010.

Other action as determined by the City Council.

FISCAL IMPACT
The funds appropriated into Account M0074229-5161.001 during the Fiscal Year 2009-10
budget process adequately provided for the anticipated construction costs including construction
management, inspection, and administrative costs.

NOTICE OF COMPLETION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN:
The City of Santa Clarita,'a municipal corporation, is the owner in fee, except for the right-of-way
upon which it has been constructed, of a certain public improvement known as Bridge Rehabilitation
Program, Project M0074.
The City's address is 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita, California 91355-2196.
The general locations of said public improvements are citywide.
4. On October 13, 2009, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded to Peterson/Chase
General Engineering Construction, Inc., 1792 Kaiser Avenue, Irvine, CA 92614-5706.
Work under said contract was completed on March 11, 2010, to the satisfaction of the City Engineer,
and was accepted by the City on June 22, 2010.
