HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-06-08 - AGENDA REPORTS - DEPUTY CAMERON GLOVE MEMORIAL (2)RECOGNITION DATE: SUBJECT: DEPARTMENT: Agenda Item: CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AGENDA REPORT City Manager Approval: Item to be presented by: June 8, 2010 Councilmember Laurie Ender HONORING DEPUTY CAMERON GLOVER BY RENAMING THE GOLDEN VALLEY BRIDGE, THE "DEPUTY CAMERON GLOVER MEMORIAL BRIDGE" City Manager's Office RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council honor the late Deputy Cameron Glover and his family by renaming the recently completed Golden Valley Bridge, the "Deputy Cameron Glover Memorial Bridge" and direct staff to place insignia at the site in order to recognize this action. BACKGROUND On Wednesday, April 28, 2010, Deputy Cameron Glover, 27, a member of the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department, was riding his motorcycle northbound on McBean Parkway near Granary Square when he and a car collided. Deputy Glover suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital where he passed away later that evening. Deputy Glover was a graduate of Canyon High School and had worked at the Santa Clarita Valley's Sheriffs Station since May 2008. He was a four-year Sheriffs veteran and a computer expert who worked patrol. Deputy Cameron Glover is survived by his wife, brother, mother and father. At the May 11, 2010, City Council meeting, Councilmember Laurie Ender asked for an item to be brought forth to the Council to consider honoring the late Deputy Glover and his family by renaming the recently completed Golden Valley Bridge, the "Deputy Cameron Glover Memorial Bridge."
