RECOMMENDED ACTION
1. City Council accept the completion of the Landscape Water Management Program Phase 1 a
(Project # R0006).
2. Direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion.
BACKGROUND
On January 22, 2010, City Council awarded a contract to Rock Bottom, Inc., for phase 1 a of the
LMD Irrigation Controller Replacement Program. Construction began on July 12, 2010. The
controller replacements were limited to seven project areas, LMD Zones 5, 6, 7, 19, T-2313, T-31
and T-52. Sixty three (63) irrigation controllers were replaced during this secondary segment of
Phase 1.
The project was funded by Landscape Maintenance Districts zones 5, 6, 7, 19, T-2313, T-31, and
T-52. The construction was completed on October 22, 2010, and was within budget to the
satisfaction of the City Engineer.
To date, the City has replaced more than 40% of its controllers, with the remaining devices on
target for replacement by July 2011. Recognized in July 2010 by Water Efficiency, the Journal
for Water Resource Management, as "The World's Largest Smart Water Implementation," once
complete, these devices will reduce Santa Clarita's LMD overall water usage by approximately
200 million gallons each year.

FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact to the General Fund created by the approval of the recommended
action. Adequate funds were budgeted in account R0006357-5261.001.

NOTICE OF COMPLETION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN:
The City of Santa Clarita, a municipal corporation, is the owner in fee, except for the right-of-way
upon which it has been constructed, of a certain public improvement known as Irrigation Controller
Replacement Project, Phase la, (Project R0006).
The City's address is 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita, California 91355-2196.
The general locations of said public improvements are the Landscape Maintenance District Zones 5, 6,
7, 19, T -23B, T-31 and T-52.
4. On June 22, 2010, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded to Rock Bottom, Inc.
5. Work under said contract was completed on October 22, 2010, to the satisfaction of the City Engineer,
and was accepted by the City on November 9, 2010.
