HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-06-22 - AGENDA REPORTS - LMD IRRIGATION CONTROLLER PGM (4)CONSENT CALENDAR DATE: SUBJECT: DEPARTMENT: Agenda Item: /3 CITY OF SANTA CLARITA AGENDA REPORT City Manager Approval Item to be presented by: June 22, 2010 Dennis Luppens LMD IRRIGATION CONTROLLER REPLACEMENT PROGRAM PHASE 1 (PROJECT R0004) - PROJECT ACCEPTANCE Administrative Services RECOMMENDED ACTION City Council accept the completion of the Landscape Water Management Program Phase 1 (CIP Project #R0004), and direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion. BACKGROUND On January 26, 2010, City Council awarded a contract to Rock Bottom Inc., for the purchase and installation of 103 irrigation controllers encompassing Phase I of the Landscape Maintenance District (LMD) Irrigation Controller Replacement Program. The project commenced on March 10, 2010, and entailed the installation of replacement controllers throughout the City's major thoroughfare medians (LMD Zone 2008-1) and in various locations adjacent to the Mountain View Courtyards along Seco Canyon Road (LMD Zone T -23A). In 2008, the overall water consumption for the above zones was 101 million gallons. The new controllers, at a minimum, will reduce annual water consumption by 20 million gallons. This project was funded through the LMD budget (Fund 357). Construction was substantially completed on June 1, 2010, within budget, and completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer. In accordance with contract documents, the contractor will provide monthly water consumption reports for one year, beginning July 1, 2010. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS Other action as determined by the City Council. A ' OVED FISCAL IMPACT Adequate funds were approved by the City Council as part of the Fiscal Year 2009/10 Annual Budget and appropriated into account R0004357-5161.001. There is no fiscal impact to the General Fund associated with the recommended action. The City's address is 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita, California 91355-2196. The general locations of said public improvements are the Landscape Maintenance District Zones T -23A and 2008-1. 4. On January 26, 2010, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded to Rock Bottom Inc. Work under said contract was completed on June 1, 2010, to the satisfaction of the City Engineer, and was accepted by the City on June 22, 2010. Sarah P.
