BACKGROUND The American Red Cross 2007 Southern California Wildfires Recovery, Planning, and Assistance Program has awarded the City of Santa Clarita a grant in the amount of $28,850. This grant is for the development and printing of a community emergency preparedness handbook. The American Red Cross received overwhelming financial support from the American public in response to the devastation caused by the 2007 Southern California wildfires. Through collaborative discussions between the various American Red Cross chapters in the affected areas, community groups, and government agencies. Subsequently, projects were developed in the areas of preparedness and mitigation to benefit the affected communities of the 2007 wildfires. The project purpose and benefits are to extend the educational outreach with the creation of a comprehensive preparedness booklet to address all the potential hazards of the Santa Clarita Valley.
