IMPROVEMENTS - PROJECT P3010 ACCEPTANCE

RECOMMENDED ACTION
1. City Council accept the work performed by Valley Crest Landscape, Inc., on the Santa Clarita
Sports Complex, Phase IV, Project P3010.
2. Direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion with the County Recorder.
3. Direct staff to release the balance of the retention 35 days after Notice of Completion is
recorded, provided no stop notices, as provided by law, have been filed.
BACKGROUND
The City of Santa Clarita owns the Santa Clarita Sports Complex, which is an approximately
60 -acre, partially developed park site. The site is located at 20850 Centre Pointe Parkway near
the intersection of Ruether Drive.
Phase IV construction occurred on approximately 15 acres of the park. This project expanded the
developed portion of the property to a total improved site of 37 acres.
Amenities in the Phase IV project include a new 40,000 -square -foot skate park facility, shade
structures, restroom/office building, combination basketball/sport court, multi -use sports field,
and an interim off -leash dog area. Other additions include a sand volleyball court, 275 lighted
parking spaces, pervious walkways, pedestrian drop-off and pick-up area, new trash enclosures,
and approximately 12 acres of landscape planting.

All construction work and the 90 -day maintenance period were completed on December 10,
2009. The contractor has completed all punch list items.

Other action as identified by City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT
Funding is budgeted and available in the Fiscal Year 2009-10 budget in accounts P3010-723,
P3010-305, and retention account 102-2012.005. Adequate funds were budgeted for the project.

NOTICE OF COMPLETION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN:
1. The City of Santa Clarita, a municipal corporation, is the owner in fee, except for the right-of-way upon
which it has been constructed, of a certain public improvement known as SANTA CLARITA SPORTS
COMPLEX, PHASE IV, PROJECT P3010.
2. The City's address is 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita, California 91355-2196.
3. The general location of said public improvements is 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway, in the City of Santa
Clarita, County Of Los Angeles State of California.
4. On June 24, 2008, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded to Valley Crest
Landscape, Inc., 10855 Business Center Drive, Suite C, Cypress, Ca. 90630.
5. Work under said contract was completed on December 10,2009 to the satisfaction of the City
Engineer, and was accepted by the City on April 27, 2010.
