City Council Study Session
March 2, 2010
Call To Order: 5:28 p.m.
Roll Call: All Councilmembers were present with the exception of Councilmember
Ferry.
Flag Salute: Mayor Weste led the flag salute.
ITEM 1 PRESENTATION OF THE CITY'S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
PROGRAMS — Ken Pulskamp, City Manager, introduced members of the Economic
Development team; Ken Striplin, Assistant City Manager, discussed the City's
Economic Development efforts; and Jason Crawford, Marketing and Economic
Development Coordinator, discussed business attraction, business retention and film
and tourism.
Council questions, concerns and comments included: inquiry regarding Economic
Development publicity and Enterprise Zone issues; commending staff on business
encouragement; inquiry on helping the public understand how being business friendly
helps them; the use of Channel 20 for to promote Economic Development; the
unemployment rate and its effects; and the use of One Valley One Vision view for
economic growth.
ITEM 2 OVERVIEW OF THE CITY'S GREEN WEBSITE — Ken Pulskamp, City
Manager, gave a brief introduction of the new Green Website; and David Peterson,
Assistant Planner II, discussed the site in detail.
Council questions, concerns and comments included: updating the information on the
site and adding content to Channel 20; inquiry on City requirements for green
building; and commendations for the website.
No comments were made by the public.
Mayor Weste adjourned the meeting at 6:52 p.m.
