A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING A FUNDING REQUEST
FOR THE CALRECYCLE USED OIL PAYMENT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted the California Oil
Recycling Enhancement Act that provides funds to cities and counties- for establishing and
maintaining local used oil collection programs that encourage recyclir.g' or _,appropriate disposal
of used oil; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Public Resources Code §48690 the -Department- of,, Resources
Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle), formerly known as the California Iritegratel. Waste
Management Board, has established the Used Oil Payment Program (OP'P) to make payments to
qualifying jurisdictions: for. implementation of their used oil.programs; and
WHEREAS, in furtherance of this authority, CalRecycle is required to establish
procedures governing the administration of the OPP; and
WHEREAS, CalRecycle's procedures for administering the OPP require, among other
things, an applicant's governing body to declare by resolution certain authorizations related to the
administration of the program.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Santa Clarita does hereby resolve as
follows:
SECTION 1. The City Council authorizes the submittal of a OPP application to
CalRecycle.
SECTION 2. The City Manager, or designee, is hereby authorized and empowered to
execute in the name of the City of Santa Clarita all documents, including but not limited to,
applications, agreements, annual reports including expenditure reports, and amendments
necessary to secure said payments to support the City's Used Oil Collection Program.
SECTION 3. This resolution is effective until rescinded by the City Council.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
