A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA,VACATION OF A PORTION OF
SPRUCE STREET BETWEEN LYONS AVENUE AND
11TH STREET IN THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA
WHEREAS, portions of Spruce Street between Lyons Avenue ands 11th Street are no
longer needed; and

WHEREAS, the land within this portion of Spruce Street is required fcr fie construction
of the Old Town Newhall Library; and
WHEREAS, sewer, gas, water, telephone, electric, and stormatain facilities' will retain
and/or be granted new easements over the portion to be vacated; and
WHEREAS, the proposed street vacation is determined to be a project and was reviewed
pursuant to the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act.
NOW, THEREFORE, pursuant to the provisions of the "Street Vacation Act of 1941,"
being Part 3 of Division 9 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, the City
Council of the City of Santa Clarita does hereby resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. That it is hereby found and determined that the portion of Spruce Street as
described in Exhibit "A" and as shown on Exhibit "B" attached hereto and incorporated herein by
this reference, which real property located in the City of Santa Clarita, County of Los Angeles,
State of California, is no longer needed for present or prospective use based on the following
facts: That this street vacation does not cut off the sole access to the properties of any person and
does not terminate a public service easement; that the subject right-of-way is excess right-of-way
not required.
SECTION 2. That the land within this portion of Spruce Street is required for the
construction of the Old Town Newhall Library.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk of the City of Santa Clarita, California, be instructed to
record the certified original resolution, in the office of the Registrar of the County of Los
Angeles, at which time the area will no longer be a public road.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION
VACATION OF EASEMENT FOR PUBLIC USE AND ROAD PURPOSES
SPRUCE STREET
Vacation of easement for public use and road purposes over that portion of Spruce Street lying
between Block 9 and Block 10 of the Town of Newhall, City of Santa Clarita, County of Los Angeles,
State of California, as shown on the map filed in Book 53 Pages 21 and 22 of Miscellaneous Records,
in the Office of the County Recorder of said County, more particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at the most southerly corner of Lot 21 of said Block 9;
thence S. 32°25'45" E., along the southwesterly line of said Block 9, a distance of 160.25 feet, more or
less, to a point in a line parallel with and 40.00 feet northwesterly of, measured at right angles to, the
southeasterly lines of said Blocks 9 and 10;
thence S. 57°30'45" W., along said parallel line, 76.98 feet, more or less, to the beginning of a curve .
concave to the west, having a radius of 17.00 feet, being tangent to said parallel line, and tangent to the
northeasterly line of said Block 10;
thence Northeasterly, Northerly, and Northwesterly along said curve, through a central angle of
89°56'30", more or less, and an arc length of 26.69 feet, more or less, to the northeasterly line of said
Block 10;
thence N. 32°25'45" W., along said northeasterly line, 143.41 feet, more or less, to the most northerly
corner of Lot 5 of said Block 10;
thence N. 57°38'38" E. 60.00 feet, more or less, to the Point of Beginning.
The above-described vacation of easement encompasses an area of 9,681 square feet, more or less, and
has no affect on the underlying fee ownership rights.
The State of California, Department of Transportation R/W Map No. P24068-1-7, 07 — LA — 126 —
10.61, dated 11/8/95, and revised 9/26/96, is the basis of bearings for this legal description.
