RAILROAD AVENUE STREET IMPROVEMENTS - PROJECT
ACCEPTANCE

RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council:
1. Accept the completion of the Railroad Avenue Street Improvements.
2. Direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion.
3. Direct staff to release the retention balance 35 days after the Notice of Completion is
recorded, provided no stop notices have been filed, as provided by law.
Redevelopment Agency:
1. Accept the completion of the Railroad Avenue Street Improvements.
BACKGROUND
On September 14, 2010, the Redevelopment Agency awarded a construction contract to
FS Construction for the Railroad Avenue Street Improvements.
This project completed the work needed to realign the westerly curb at Railroad Avenue in the
area of 11 th Street. The realignment was necessary to provide proper lane transitions and traffic
guidance following the removal of the temporary island.
This work was required to establish and provide access for the parking lot for the Old Town
Newhall Library and is consistent with the vacation of the portion of San Fernando Road
between 11 th Street and Lyons Avenue.

The Railroad Avenue Street Improvements were completed to the satisfaction of the City
Engineer on January 14, 2011.
ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
Other action as determined by the City Council and/or Redevelopment Agency.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact as adequate funds were budgeted in Expenditure Account
F2007390-5161.001.

NOTICE OF COMPLETION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN:
The City of Santa Clarita, a municipal corporation, is the owner in fee, except for the right-of-way
upon which it has been constructed, of a certain public improvement known as Railroad Avenue Street
Improvements.
2. The City's address is 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita, California 91355-2196.
The general locations of said public improvements is at Railroad Avenue and 11th Street.
4. On September 14, 2010, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded
to FS Construction, 13368 Aldergrove Street, Sylmar, California 91342.
Work under said contract was completed on January 14, 2011, to the satisfaction of the City Engineer,
and was accepted by the City on February 8, 2011.
