All Councilmembers were present.
All Commissioners were present, with the
exception of Chair Tim Burkhart
Parks, Rec, & Cmty Services Commission: All Commissioners were present, with the
exception of Commissioner Matt Halliday.
Arts Commission: All Commissioners were present, with the
exception of Commissioner Eric Schmidt.
Flag Salute: Mayor McLean led the flag salute.
ITEM 1 FISCAL YEAR 2011-2012 BUDGET — Ken Pulskamp, City Manager, outlined the
proposed budget and the City's fiscal status and outlook.
Council / Planning Commission / Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission,
and Arts Commission members questions, concerns and comments included: requesting
expanded efforts to communicate the $55.0 million in grants the City has received since 2009;
inquiring on steps taken to make the City's budget available on-line to the community,
inquiring if the City had conducted a risk analysis to identify additional revenues at risk for
being cut by the State; questions regarding reductions in sales tax revenues; comments
regarding advocacy for the arts; future discussion on goals of the Parks, Recreation and
Community Services Commission and success of subsidized recreation programs; evaluation
of policy for full recovery of Parks Programs and future discussion for deferring increasing
costs to residents due to challenging economy; discussion of pursuing grant funds to be .put
towards public art; the Arts Sub -Committee meeting with the Arts Commission to review the
Arts Commissions' plans; and Council concurrence to utilize the May 3, 2011 Joint Meeting
to include a discussion of the Whittaker-Bermite matter.
No comments were made by the public.
Mayor McLean adjourned the meeting at 5:26 p.m.
