A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES
OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA,
SETTING THE INITIAL TERMS OF OFFICE FOR TRUSTEES.
The Board of Library Trustees of the City of Santa Clarita resolves as follows:
SECTION 1. Findings, The Board of Library Trustees finds as follows:
a. The Mayor of the City of Santa Clarita has appointed, and the City Council has
consented to the appointment of, five individuals to serve as the trustees of the City of Santa
Clarita Board of Library Trustees.
b. Section 2.70.020 of the Santa Clarita Municipal Code establishing the Board of
Library Trustees provides that the terms of the members of the first Board of Library Trustees are
to be staggered as provided for in Education Code Section 18911.
c. Education Code Section 18911 provides: "The members of the first board
appointed shall so classify themselves by lot that oneof their number shall go out of office at -the
end of the current fiscal year, two at the end of one year thereafter, and two at the end of two
years thereafter."
d. Pursuant to Education Code Section 18911, one trustee's term will end on June
30, 2011, two trustees' terms will end on June 30, 2012, and two trustees' terms will end on June
30, 2013.
e. The trustees have drawn lots to detennine the length of their initial terms of
office.
SECTION 2. Initial Terms of Office. The trustees of the Library Board of Trustees
will serve the following initial terms:
a. Seat 1: The initial term of Trustee McLean will expire on June 30, 2011.
b. Seat 2: The initial term of Trustee Kellar will expire on June 30, 2012.
c. Seat 3: The initial term of Trustee Weste will expire on June 30, 2012.
d. Seat 4: The initial term of Trustee Ender will expire on June 30, 2013.
e. Seat 5: The initial term of Trustee Ferry will expire on June 30, 2013.

SECTION 3. Effective Date. This resolution will take effect immediately upon
adoption.
SECTION 4. Certification. The Secretary is directed to certify the passage of this
resolution.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 26th day of April 2011.
