RECOMMENDED ACTION
1. City Council accept the completion of the 2010-11 Federal Overlay Program, Project M0083.
2. Direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion.
3. Direct staff to release the remaining retention 35 days after the Notice of Completion is
recorded, provided no stop notices have been filed, as provided by law.
BACKGROUND
The Federal Overlay program is an integral part of the City's pavement management program.
Each year, streets are evaluated, and the need for asphalt overlay and/or slurry seal maintenance
treatments is identified. The project overlays and resurfaces streets in various -areas of the City to
provide a smoother ride for traffic, enhance the appearance of the roadway and surrounding area,
and extend the life of the -roadway. The 2010-11 Federal Overlay Program included pavement
preparation and dig outs, followed by asphalt rubberized hot mix overlay paving on Newhall
Ranch Road between Bouquet Canyon Road and Avenue Tibbitts.
The City Council awarded the construction contract to Sully -Miller Contracting Company on
August 23, 2011. This project was completed within budget to the satisfaction of the City
Engineer on January 30, 2012.
ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
Other action as determined by the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT
The project was funded with Surface Transportation Program Local (Fund 202), Transportation
Development Act Article 8 (Fund 233), and Developer Fee funds (Fund 357). The project budget
adequately provided for all project costs, including construction management, inspection, and
administration. The final contract cost for Sully -Miller Contracting Company is $2,047,482,
which is within the original City Council authorized contract spending authority of $2,276,958,
approved at the time of contract award at the City Council meeting on August 23, 2011. .

NOTICE OF COMPLETION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN:
The City of Santa Clarita, a municipal corporation, is the owner in fee, except for the right-of-way
upon which it has been constructed, of a certain public improvement known as 2010-11 Federal
Overlay Program, Project M0083, Federal Aid Project Number STPL-5450(067).
2. The City's address is 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita, California 91355-2196.
The general location of said public improvements is Newhall Ranch Road between Bouquet Canyon
Road and Avenue Tibbitts.
4. On August 23, 2011, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded to Sully -Miller
Contracting Company, 135 S. State College Blvd., Suite 400, Brea, CA 92821.
Work under said.contract was completed on January 30, 2012, to the satisfaction of the City Engineer,
and was accepted by the City on April 24, 2012.
