RECOMMENDED ACTION
1. City Council accept the work performed by California Commercial Pools, Inc., for the
Valencia Meadows Pool Renovation, Project M0080.
2. Direct the City Clerk to file the attached Notice of Completion with the County Recorder.
3. Direct staff to release the balance of the retention 35 days after Notice of Completion is
recorded, provided no stop notices, as defined by law, have been filed.
BACKGROUND
The Valencia Meadows Park pool was built in 1969. Over the years, the pool has been renovated
several times to address various issues. The last project occurred in 2006, when the filter system
at this pool was replaced as part of an ongoing preventive maintenance program.
This pool had water seepage issues that worsened in recent years. In order to address the
seepage, the City Council awarded a contract to California Commercial Pools, Inc. for this
project on August 23,.2011. This comprehensive project replaced the original pool plaster and
tile, re -piped the pool, and replaced the entire pool plumbing system.
All construction work and the start-up maintenance period were completed on December 9,
2011. The contractor has completed all punch -list items and City Aquatics staff is now
maintaining the pool as scheduled.
ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS
Other action as identified by City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT
The total project budget was $190,308. Funding for this project was provided by Park Dedication
Fund Balance and was budgeted in Expenditure Account M0080305-5161.001. Expenditures for
the contract were within the City Council authorized spending authority of $185,020, which was
approved at the time of contract award on August 23, 2011.

NOTICE OF COMPLETION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN:
1. The City. of Santa Clarita, a municipal corporation, is the owner in fee, except for the right-of-way upon
which it has been constructed, of a certain public improvement known as Discovery Park, Project P3016.
2. The City's address is 23920 Valencia Boulevard, Suite 300, Santa Clarita, California 91355-2196.
3. The general location of said public improvements is 27555 Canyon View Drive, Santa Clarita, CA 91351.
4. On December 8, 2009, a contract to construct said public improvement was awarded to R. C. Becker & Son,
Inc.
5. Work under said contract was completed on September 6, 2010 to the satisfaction of the City Engineer, and
was accepted by the City on October 12, 2010.
