BACKGROUND On June 24, 2014, the City Council adopted a resolution calling a special election for November 4, 2014, to consider Ordinance 14-02. The Council also requested that the election be consolidated with the County general election of that same date. The resolution calling the election and requesting consolidation has been transmitted to the County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk, who has forwarded the resolution to the Agenda Department for the County Board of Supervisors so that the request to consolidate can be considered by the Board at a future Board meeting. In response to the receipt of the City's resolution, the County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Election Information and Preparation section transmitted to the City a County of Los Angeles General Election Municipal Information Booklet. That booklet delineates the apportionment of responsibilities as between the City and the County in the context of a consolidated election. The booklet also indicates that the City can request a particular letter or two -letter combination for the City's Measure (for example "Measure X"), and can also request that particular letters not be used for the City's Measure. Should the Council wish to request particular letter(s), or wish to exclude particular letter(s), the City would need to complete the attached form and submit the same to the County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. The form allows the City to make three selections of either a single letter, or two letter combination, in the City's requested order of preference. The form does not appear to limit the list of letters the City would not want to have for the Measure. If the Council does not wish to request a particular letter for the Measure, then the County will assign a letter or two letters to the Measure. ALTERNATIVE ACTIONS Other action as directed by the City Council. FISCAL IMPACT Submittal of the form does not result in any fiscal impact.
