A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING NO -STOPPING ZONES ON
MAY WAY NEAR LA MESA JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL
WHEREAS, Section 22507 of the California Vehicle Code of the State of California
provides for local authorities to prohibit stopping, standing, or parking of vehicles on certain
streets or highways or portions thereof during certain or all hours of the day; and
WHEREAS, City, Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department, La Mesa Junior High
School, and William S. Hart School District staff have worked together to develop a traffic
circulation plan to minimize traffic delays and improve student safety near the school; and
WHEREAS, the implementation of the traffic circulation plan requires the
establishment of no -stopping zones; and
WHEREAS, it is consistent with normal traffic engineering practices to establish
no -stopping zones on May Way for improved traffic circulation near La Mesa Junior High
School.
' NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Santa Clarita does hereby
resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. That a no -stopping -anytime zone shall be established along the east side
of May Way beginning at a point 205 feet north of Citylight Court, thence northerly for a
distance of 140 feet.
SECTION 2. That a no -stopping -anytime zone shall be established along the east side
of May Way beginning at a point 455 feet south of Monarch Ridge Drive, thence southerly for a
distance of 200 feet.
SECTION 3. That a no stopping between 7:00 a.m and 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and
4:00 p.m., school days only, shall be established along the east side of May Way beginning at
Citylight Court, thence northerly for a distance of 205 feet.
SECTION 4. That no stopping between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 pm. and
4:00 p.m., school days only, shall be established along the east side of May Way beginning at
Monarch Ridge Drive, thence southerly for a distance of 455 feet.
SECTION 5. That no stopping between 7:00 am. and 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and
4:00 p.m., school days only, shall be established along the west side of May Way beginning at
Citylight Court, thence northerly for a distance of 200 feet.
SECTION 6. That a no -stopping -anytime zone shall be established along the west
side of May Way beginning at a point 200 feet north of Citylight Court, thence northerly for a
distance of 155 feet.
SECTION 7. That establishment of the no -stopping zones shall apply when
appropriate signs and/or markings giving adequate notice thereof have been placed as described
in Sections 1 through 6.
SECTION 8. That staff shall install the necessary signs and/or markings to effect this
resolution.
SECTION 9. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
