CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Mayor/Chair Kellar.
ROLL CALL
All Councilmembers were present.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION (one minute limit)
Addressing the City Council was Douglas Fraser.
CLOSED SESSION
Joseph Montes, City Attorney, advised of the need to conduct a Closed Session for the purpose
of holding a:
CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL — EXISTING LITIGATION
Government Code Section 54956.9(d)(1) - two matters
Cordova Associates vs. City of Santa Clarita et al.
Newport Pacific Caravilla vs. City of Santa Clarita et al.
LASC Case no. BS 159822
CONFERENCE WITH PROPERTY NEGOTIATOR
Government Code Section 54956.8
Property Location: One full City block directly across the street from the Old Town
Newhall Library, bounded by Lyons Avenue to the north, Railroad Avenue to the east,
9th Street to the south, and Main Street to the west.
Negotiating Parties: Laemmle Theatre and Serrano Development Group, Inc. /Pacific
Coast Housing Development, LLC.
City's and Successor Agency's Authorized Negotiator: City Manager
Under Negotiation: Price and Terms of Payment
Councilmember Weste recused herself from participating in the City Block item due to
the proximity of her property to the project area.
RECESS TO CLOSED SESSION
Mayor Kellar recessed the meeting to Closed Session at 5:03 p.m.
RECONVENE TO OPEN SESSION
Mayor Kellar reconvened the meeting to Open Session at 6:13 p.m.
CITY ATTORNEY ANNOUNCEMENT
City Attorney Montes announced that the Council voted unanimously to authorize the City
Attorney and Burke, Williams & Sorensen, LLP to undertake the defense of the City and its
named boards and employees in the two pending litigation matters.
ADJOURN
Mayor Kellar adjourned the meeting at 6:13 p.m.
